Keep Calm and Summer On!

Spending your summer in the Florida heat can be tough, that’s why we are here to help make your summer a breeze and even help you save a little money while doing so. Below are some guidelines to help keep your air conditioning running smoothly and efficiently. First things first, ensure that your HVAC system (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) is clean. This includes keeping the system’s drain pan and drain line clean and free of obstruction. Filters should be replaced/serviced monthly. The air registers should also be dusted regularly and should not be obstructed by furniture or other objects that could block the airflow. It is also important to keep the system unit free of obstruction by removing debris, such as leaves, pollen, and twigs from the top and sides of outdoor air conditioning units. Do not allow the lawn mower to discharge grass clippings onto the unit. If the system is not working properly, please ensure that the filter is clean, the breaker is on, and drain line is clear. Often times, just these simple steps will resolve the issue.

Who Doesn’t Love Savings?

Easy and inexpensive actions can help you save energy and money during the hot summer months. If the home has a programmable thermostat, make sure it is set to conserve energy usage while you are not home. In addition, using a ceiling fan or other type of fan will allow you to set the temperature a few degrees higher while still keeping you comfortable. Just remember to turn the fan off when you leave the room, fans cool people, not rooms, by creating a wind chill effect. If possible, limit the use of appliances. Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes and take showers instead of baths. Using cold settings and taking cooler showers will provide even more advantages when it comes to savings.
